John Brookens-Sturman "It is clear to me that churches have had a powerful impact on society throughout time. Sadly, it is my impression that many people in America see church as a dated and irrelevant institution. The challenge of growing a church as not a building or institution but as a worshipping and vibrant community of people whose lives have been changed through their faith is an exciting one. I look forward to what God can do through our efforts!"

Virginia Orr was looking for a new worship experience when she moved to Loudoun County in 2005. She learned about Brambleton while attending Riverside Church and decided to join the team. Virginia lives in Belmont Country Club, but finds the commute to Brambleton to be pretty easy.

Shannon Powell moved here in January of 2008 from Houston, Texas, immediately following her marriage to Rev. Elliott Powell. In her opinion, Brambleton Presbyterian Church was what helped her feel at home after her move. "The people remind me of home in that they are so welcoming and friendly." Her passion for kids and a desire for more people to experience a relationship with the Lord has led her to being one of the leaders with the middle school ministry. "It's not only exciting to see this community worship and grow together. It's even more exciting to see our youth growing so much in their faith and having a blast while doing it."

Dwayne Smith is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and recently served on the Session at Riverside. He taught Adult Seminars/Sunday School at Riverside and has been active in international missions. Dwayne and his wife Nancy committed to being a part of the "seed" for planting a new congregation in Brambleton. Dwayne currently leads our Adult Education program, while Nancy has stepped up to take charge of our nursery.  If you don't see Dwayne in worship, he's probably behind the screen running media for the service! Loretta White is originally from New York.  She moved to Brambleton in 2004 with her husband John and 3 children after living down South for 15 years. She says,"I am excited about the prospect of helping build a new church from the ground up. Having no physical church building helps us to focus on what is truly important—the people in our community. It truly is thrilling to see God at work here and to know that He is changing lives once we put our faith in Him.
