Gaps are spaces which cause separation, and they may form just about anywhere and in a variety of ways. There are physical gaps between objects and places; proverbial gaps in communications and between generations; gaps in time (just hopefully not in the space time continuum. Great Scott!).
No matter the circumstance, though, one thing is certain for followers of Jesus Christ: What we do in the gap matters. How we react and interact with others matters. Every gap we encounter is an opportunity for growth and forward motion in our lives, lived in faith and lived out as members of the Body of Christ.
As we jump into this “gap” together, the church is invited to honestly work through any
inevitable anxieties members may be feeling in the gap – while also working together
with the Holy Spirit as a vision for the future of BPC comes clearly into focus. To get us started, we will engage in a sermon series called Stories from the Gap. In it, we will
explore stories from the Scriptures when the faithful and flawed children of God stood in
the gap, trusting God and trusting one another to help move themselves up and out and
forward. Throughout the series, the church will be asked to consider: What will BPC’s
“gap” story be? Who are we now and who is God calling us to become as we make our
way through the gap between today and when BPC is ready to call its next installed
pastor?
